Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy!
My mother likes their chili, I take her a bowl on Fridays when it is cold. They use green onions and cheddar, not white onions. It also has beans in it, and they use sirloin meat. I also find the chili tasty.
We've gone to this place for a few years now. Gives us a nice break from downtown fast food. I have to admit the flavor of the food seems to have been declining over the last few visits. Maybe it's the food maybe it's me. I used to love getting a big slice of cake but the slices got thinner and the prices seem a little high for a piece of cake. Its probably for the best I need to keep my wallet thick and my waist slim
Food is always spot on. The shrimp etoufee is so delicious as is the butter cake.
I was reading an article today in the New York Times which I buy through digital subscription. It was about the different types of gumbos that are now being served in New Orleans due to the fact that the population has changed so much since Hurricane Katrina forced so many people away and so many new ethnic groups have come into NOLA to fill the void.
Food was very good and fresh. Service was great. Love the food and place.
Love this place, if does get very crowded and the line gets quite long around noon so definitely try to hit it around the 11:15 mark!
Great experience! Handed tray, drink and utensils by gloved employees. Gumbo was tops as usual.
Awesome chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
Really good food. Had the shrimp ettouffe and it was delicious. My go to comfort food at work.
This is what Louisiana food should all be like. Jambalaya at its finest, love the fresh vegetables. And the Étouffée is always fantastic.
Try the chicken fried chicken and talk to THE local Houston lunch tunnel rat, Daniel Leffler aka Big Boi Danny.
Very popular spot means long lines at lunch time. Gumbo was delicious and the fruit cup was fresh and juicy. Jalapeno cornbread was a tad dry, but eating it with the gumbo was a great combo
Pretty good location for lunch downtown!
It's so delicious. Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. Prices were fair. Food is like a restaurant in Louisville I loved.
Great place for very tasty soups and salads and Cajun food that's highly populated.
Always the best food. The takeout line is usually very long, but they have it down to a science so it goes quickly.
Treebeard's red beans and rice is the best!!!
Good home style cooked food!
Good vegan red beans and rice, corn brean not good, line moves fast.
Treebeards in the tunnel at 1100 Louisiana is a convenient place for a quick lunch if you work nearby. Even if the line appears long, they are efficient in moving people through quickly and I've rarely had to wait long. Great value for the price, especially for the daily regular gumbo, shrimp etouffee, jambalaya (more of a creole than a traditional jambalaya), and red beans and rice with sausage. Large chicken and sausage gumbo M to W is just $7.75, and seafood gumbo on Th-F is just $8.75. A local favorite on Th & Fr is their chicken & dumplings. My favorite dish is one of the Friday specials, baked catfish with shrimp etouffee topping, served on a bed of dirty rice.
Great Cajun food with different specials depending on the day
Treebeards is delicious Cajun Southern comfort food. They have the best seafood gumbo around. There are plenty of tables and the setting is cafeteria style. Everything I have eaten here tastes like it came from momma's kitchen. My favorite thing is to wrap up my meal with one of the giant homemade chocolate chip cookies sold at the register. The best part? Prices won't break your wallet!
The best gumbo there is. Monday is duck, Tuesday and Wednesday are chicken and sausage. The best of the best. Quick service. Daily specials like stuffed pork chop, meatloaf, chicken fried chicken, and fried catfish. Four downtown locations. I believe they cook all the food at the church location so it is always consistent. This location has a take out window and they are available on Uber Eats.
Great food each time I go. The people working their are really nice and helpful when it comes to make a food choice
Me and a couple guys from work have went here several times for lunch. The food is good and even with long lines it goes really fast. If you want a cajun style meal that's quick this is the place to go. Come try the gumbo and the corn bread l.
Located in the tunnel. Their Chicken fried chicken is so delicious!!!
Their casseroles taste amazing!
Fantastic food and service. The salad bar is fresh and delicious, like no other. The breads are house made and come with great spreads. The steaks are to die for and cooked and seasoned to your liking and to perfection. The desserts fall in line. This is a wonderfully managed restaurant.
It's a quiet restaurant for lunch hours. The meal options are a bit limited for me.
